Like several other towns in Rutland County, Danby sits atop a rich vein of mineral deposits. Danby's specialty is a high-grade architectural marble, respectfully known as "Imperial Danby." It's been used to construct many notable buildings, including the Supreme Court building and the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C.
