A weekend getaway to Rutland County can fly by way too quickly, so when visiting our Green Mountain State, you always want to visit the best sites. The list of things to do here is endless, but if you only have a few days, these are our top three, must see sites in Rutland County.

The View from the Top of Killington
Killington Resort offers some of the best views at 4,241’ from the top of their world-famous ski and snowboard trails. The best part is, in the warmer months you can take a scenic gondola ride to the top of Killington Mountain and experience the views as if you are on top of the world. When you arrive at the top, there are various hiking and mountain biking trails to enjoy, and even a restaurant, Peak Lodge.

The Paramount Theatre

The Paramount Theatre was built in 1914, with some of the most spectacular architectural designs you will ever see. Each year, the Paramount Theatre brings nationally recognized artists to Downtown Rutland. It often hosts local events such as, community fundraisers, and fun activities for the entire family. Even if you are only here for a weekend, adding a show at the Paramount Theatre to your itinerary is an absolute must. Be sure to check out their calendar of events for upcoming shows.

A Walk Through the West Rutland Marsh

The West Rutland Marsh is a hidden gem in Rutland County that offers a quiet getaway to take in the nature and scenery around you. Bird watchers are often found visiting the Marsh. BirdWatching Magazine (formerly Birder’s World) listed this location as one of the United States’ birding hotspots, in its October 2008 edition. The West Rutland Marsh offers a boardwalk for easy accessibility to walk directly through the marsh in a safe way without disturbing the surrounding nature. Before you arrive, read up on types of birds and other animals that might pay you a little visit while you are there.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to stay with us for more than a few days, we have additional recommendations of places to check out.
