Not everyone who lives in Vermont is a skier or snowboarder. Rutland County has plenty of indoor options to keep kids and adults entertained through those winter months. Here is a list of our five favorite indoor activities to do in Rutland, Vermont.

Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum

For the kids, Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum is a great place to spend the day. The museum features activities to stimulate the imagination and promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) learning. Kids can drive an interactive (wooden) train, complete with a whistle, xylophone, and other learning features. Make food in the pretend diner, a favorite for many. Check out the turtles, do a science experiment, or program a robot! There is also an infant area and sensory table for young children. The museum is currently located at 11 Center Street in Downtown Rutland, but in 2023, the museum will triple its size to 9,000 square feet and move around the corner to 66 Merchants Row.

Bowling

An oldie, but goodie, is bowling at the Rutland Bowlerama. Play a friendly game or compete against your friends and family. The Rutland Bowlerama has 32 lanes, 20 of which have bumpers, and shoe and ball rentals of all sizes. If you get hungry while playing there is pizza and other comfort foods onsite. For those over the age of twenty-one, check out the Ten Pin Lounge.

Fortress of Fun

If your kids need to get some energy out, the Fortress of Fun, Indoor Family Fun Center is the place to go. Inside the building, kids can bounce around in the inflatable bounce houses, explore the play structure, drive bumper cars, and play in the arcade. The facility also offers birthday party packages!

Rock Climbing

For thrill-seekers, anyone looking for a whole-body workout, or families in need of something to do, visit Green Mountain Rock Climbing Center. The space offers over 50 routes of varying skill levels (changed monthly) on the climbing walls and a boulder room. If you have never climbed before, belay lessons and rentals are available.

Indoor Golf

For those golfers who want to make par in the Spring, Stonehedge Indoor Golf is the place for you. Practice your swing in front of one of their many indoor golf virtual simulators. Or take aim in Vermont’s first virtual shooting range. Located in the same space is Mulligan’s Bar & Grill, which features a full bar and pub-style food.

Of course, there are other fun indoor activities to do all around Rutland County, but these are our five favorites, right here in Rutland. If you are thinking about moving to our area, you can connect with us through our Concierge Program here. We hope to see you at one of these fun spots soon!
